COURSE DESIGN

The 14th Head and Neck Emergencies Clinical Human Factors Simulation Course: 20 March 2025. This one-day course features immersive simulations in a dedicated facility. Simulations are accompanied by seminars and group feedback. The focus of this course is on patient safety during ENT emergencies, rather than operative technique or clinical knowledge (though some technical aspects will be covered). Topics include: avoidable error; communication techniques during emergencies; good leadership and good followership.

Immersive simulations centre on one or two attendees, who act in their current capacity (ie CT2 as CT2). You will be placed in important ENT emergency situations, some of which will only occur once or twice in a career. There will be professional facilitators playing the roles of other members of the healthcare team. There is training and feedback after each simulation session.

This course has previously counted as a non-technical skills/human factors course for ARCP and CCT.

CANDIDATES

Aimed at F2 to ST8 and Peri-CCT Fellows in ENT and OMFS.

The course is limited to 8 candidates.

FEE

£170 early bird fee (usually £200)

The fee covers venue hire, consumables, refreshments and a sandwich lunch.

Refund & Cancellation Policy: Until 1200 on 20 January 2025, attendees may cancel for a refund, less a 20% administration cost. There is no option to defer.

After 1200 on 20 January 2025, no refunds are available unless the attendee can arrange for a replacement paying the same fee. These rules allow us to provide viable courses with high tutor-attendee ratios at a reasonable cost.

If we are forced to cancel the course either because of low uptake or because of circumstances beyond our control, we will contact attendees at the earliest possible time (usually at least four weeks before the course). If we are forced to cancel a course, attendees will be given a full refund less any fees that the payment processing service may charge, but we are not liable for other costs they may have incurred.

Privacy Policy: We will only use your contact details to tell you about other courses or educational opportunities we may have. We will never sell your information to a third party. Your payment details are transmitted securely to the payment processing service (Stripe) and are never revealed to us.
